COW: Weed Management Field Day14 Nov 2008 -WEED MANAGEMENT FIELD DAY – Friday 14 November, 1pm start, Thompson Vineyard Estate RSVP to: Natalie Wilson, info@cowa.org.nz / tel: 445 4499 / 021 1042513 by Tuesday 11 November Details: With the weather warming up and plant life going nuts it’s time to take a look at the options we have to get rid of the unwanted plants in our vine rows! The field day is at Thompson Vineyard Est., SH8 Wanaka Rd, rapid # 871 on Friday 14th November. From 1pm there will be demonstrations of the Braun under vine weeder, Two Paddocks steamer, Vine Techs burner and arrowhead weeder and James Dicey’s new under vine mower! We will also take a look at weed mats, mulches and some human powered weeding tools. We will be looking at the practicality of the machines in your vineyard, what needs to be done to existing trellis/irrigation systems to accommodate the machines, staking and guarding the vine, cost of machine (purchase & contracting costs), mulch mats and handweeding. The various techniques used will be documented and a photo diary will be available on the forum website. The cost is $30 + gst ($20 + gst COW members), bring clean footwear , the day will end at 4pm; weather depending, a few drinks and bbq to round of the day. RVSP 11th November for field day and bbq.
